THE SITUATION
The platform had been built by a talented team of principal engineers who'd gotten a lot done without a designer, and it showed. The product worked, but it hadn't been shaped around the people using it. No design system, a growing backlog, and a North American launch on the horizon. My job was to add design value without disrupting a team that had its own rhythm.

WHAT I DID
Rather than arriving with a redesign agenda, I started by listening and moving quickly on things that made everyone's lives easier. I stress-tested an established framework kit against the real product and had a working design system base ready within the first week, something the team could use straight away. I joined their existing dev workflow rather than layering on a separate process, and wrote a tone of voice guide to cut the instructional overload that had crept in across the platform. The meatiest UX challenge was onboarding: walking users through complex accounting and hardware-supplier integrations. I designed a guided flow with built-in education and progress checkpoints to make that journey feel manageable.

THE SYSTEM

The brief: a design system grounded in familiar framework conventions, adapted to an already-engineered platform. I built a comprehensive, responsive system from the ground up, drawing on industry-leading e-commerce design patterns, with a scalable component library carrying a cohesive visual language across the client's web products.

OUTCOMES

• Platform launched in North America, followed by a company acquisition

• Guided onboarding flow reduced setup friction for complex integrations
