"Turned a chaotic multi-stack brief into a unified product direction for a global AI platform."
Lead Product Designer · AI Data Collection / Global Platform
THE SITUATION
The brief was a blue-sky app unifying three business lines. The reality: multiple stakeholders on different stacks across different time zones, terminology that meant different things depending on who you asked, and a scope that expanded the moment I started mapping it.
WHAT I DID
I stayed lean, carved off an early prototype to show momentum, then worked through the problems one layer at a time. The global testing challenge had an answer hiding in plain sight: the client runs a platform that pays contributors to complete tasks, so I ran prototype testing as paid contributor tasks, turning their own product into research infrastructure. I resolved naming and convention conflicts across business lines, and split the surface with the founding designer: I took native app and annotation tooling, she took responsive web, with a unified design system agreed above both.
THE SYSTEM
The brief asked for native design systems supporting two crossover apps, plus responsive web, all unified under new branding. I built a cohesive system establishing a single source of truth for design and code components across the entire platform.
OUTCOMES
Remote testing infrastructure built from the client's own contributor platform
Unified terminology and onboarding architecture resolved across business lines
Distributed dev teams across two continents aligned toward a shared direction
"We run a platform that pays people to do tasks. Running testing as a task was obvious in hindsight. Most good solutions are."
